我亲历了北京2022年冬奥会开幕式的仪式前表演《一起向未来》的全程设计与制作,主要负责“福立方”的环节,运用了中国传统剪纸元素与万花筒进行结合,根据万花筒成像原理以编程形式构建了一个参数化的设计模型。这一实践经历给我很大的收获与启发,由此延用了万花筒的设计模型,并结合中国传统诗词格律创作出《字里花间》。作品名意为“字成一花,花间有字”,灵感来源自“梦笔生花”,即文人笔下所至开出一片片花朵,表示文笔出色。我在中国最早的文人词集《花间集》中节选十八首词,搜集整理这些词的书法作品,而后将逐个字转化成花,并且运用了诗词格律和万花筒成像原理,每一朵花的结构都取决于文字的字形,将诗词的韵律感融于其中。我希望以一种浪漫的方式展现中华诗词之美,从而探索如何借助科技的力量赋能艺术,讲述中国故事。
I experienced the design and production of the pre-ceremony performance Together to a Shared Future before the opening ceremony of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, and I was responsible for the design of Fu Cube. Using the combination of traditional Chinese paper-cut elements and the kaleidoscope. Based on the principle of kaleidoscope imaging, a parametric design model is constructed to explore how to use the power of technology to empower art and tell Chinese stories. This practical experience has inspried me a lot , so I decide to use the elements of kaleidoscope in this creation, combined with digital technology and poetic rhythm, to create Flowers Blooming in A Poety.
My inspiration comes from the set phrase ‘Dream of flowers blooming at one’s pentip’, which describes the scenes of flowers blooming in the poet’s pen, which is vivid, beautiful and romantic. The words are emotional, and the poetry is the poet and lyricist who inject strong emotions into the simplified words. From ancient times to the present, there are countless poems describing flowers, and flowers often have symbolic meanings. A phrase from a poetry, ‘A branch of spring flower better than words’, the poet presents his friends with flowers, and conveys his deep friendship through the flower instead of writing any words.
It reminds me that when the words written by the poet turning into flowers, it becomes both a flower and a word, that is different from the flower in nature. The structure of each flower depends on the shape and stroke of the character, and integrates the emotion and connotation of the character. To convert words into flowers, I used an interesting tool - a kaleidoscope. What I think is interesting is that it can transform any image into a flower shape, even images that are irrelevant or have no meaning. So I use the kaleidoscope algorithm to make a model, then input the words into it, and it can be translated into the shape of flowers.
